Is this a Frankenradio?

Post by willy3486 on Tue Jun 16, 2015 10:48 am

I wounder if this is a Frankenradio, one that has been pieced together like Frankenstein. The Crosley is the one I am talking about. It looks similar to a table top crosley I have. They must have some real value as they are priced so cheap.

I've seen tabletops with dials that big but with different layouts. I'll bet seeing it from the rear would tell a lot.

I'm with 75 on this one. I would need to see documentation of some kind to make a better determination. And, of course, they are delusional on their price.

I know where a TV just like that is for only 30 bucks. The radio in my area if original and not pieced together from two would run the same. The record player I would have no use for. I think in my area 75 to 100 would be what they would be worth.

Here is a photo of a plastic t/t with the similar features. note the knob functions marked on the dial face.

Interesting, I have seen thousands of radios probably but never one like that. I do have a similar crosley tabletop radio. I am not going to check on it. From what I have seen if someone has overpriced it big ,not even that big, there is no way they will be reasonable with a price. Sadly I bwt someone will offer decent or better and they will never sell. If I was their neighbor I would keep a watch on trash day by their garbage cans.

Yup, this same question/same model was brought up on the ARF. I recall it that now. Pretty ugly conglomeration if you ask me.

Crosley made some pretty ugly stuff. I think it'sw original. The price for the stuff is way too high. The "record player" is a Victor Orthophonic Victrola made about 1926. They play very well. Top value. 300.00. The tv is a Zenith made in 1949. Top value: 100.00.
The Crosley: Top value 50.00.

I'd bet they were trying to cobble together their pre and postwar inventories to get some new product out a.s.a.p..
