Yes, I believe it is. And, yesterday, at my primary doctor's, he had kudos for me, also... He could see a change for the better...... An,d, I lost a whole pound! Well, that's not much, but, considering my eating habits, it's a start. When I lose thirty pounds I'll really start celebrating!!!!!!!

It's easier to keep off the pounds lost slowly.

I found that to be true last year. At one point for several months I was down to 234 lbs. I'm up to 252 lbs. Last time I was up to 253 lbs.
My eating habits are lousy, but, I'm exercising more, so, slowly, weight is going down.

It is also easier if you and the dogs do not share "cheese and weenies" just before you go to bed. Ask me how I found this out the hard way. Rolling Eyes

Sounds like you are on the right path. Good luck, Bill.

A lot of hard work at pool therapy today, but, guess what! I surprised both the therapist, and, myself that I was able to do almost all exercises without holding onto the pool rails for support...
No doubt about it.. I'm getting stronger................. Very Happy

I knew the pool would do you a lot of good. That would be something to stay with after the therapy.

That's what I intend to do... For fourty dollars a month I will be allowed to do my own exercises twice a week, all month long. It's a good deal..............

Re: A change in therapy...............

Post by Bill Cahill on Wed Jul 29, 2015 11:50 am

Well, I couldn't stand it any longer. My crummy next door neighbor who wants me in a nursing home had his people quit helping me at all on the front yard. No one would help for love, nor, money. So, today, I broke down, got my garage key out, unlocked the door, and, pulled out my lawn mower.

Had some small issues, like no gas in tank, etc., but, with little rests managed to mow most of the front lawn which is much smaller than back yard. It looked like hell. I don't know what will happen. My bzck hurts, but, so far, not much more than after yesterday's pool therapy. I'm not doing anymore today. The easiest part was pulling the starting rope with my bad right arm. My arm handled that without a hitch.
I know you guys will probably be upset with me, but, it had to be done. Period!!

Take it a bit at a time. You are lucky the mower worked all right.

While attempting the center garden I ran into something, and, engine seized. Took several manual attempts, but, I got it running again.
That took some work. I hadn't mowed in years. I fell in a ditch. Didn't watch where I was going. But, got back up with little effort.

Yes, I'm sore all over, but, still walking. If I did it too soon, I'm sorry. But, it looked terrible. I had to do it.
Right, or, wrong????????????

Bill, only your body can tell if mowing was right or wrong. I suspect something a little less strenuous like water exercising for the time being would be better! There must be a neighborhood kid who would do moving for some pocket change. Of course I'm thinking of the old days. Laughing
As indicated many times from your Forum friends, follow the advice of the professionals.
Best, Jerry

Perhaps there is a professional lawn service that works in your area. Be careful. You have made too much progress to go backwards. Good luck.

The pros only want big money jobs. I hope they don't put an end to what I'm trying to do.I don't mind slowing down. Just don't want to stop.

Re: A change in therapy...............

Post by Bill Cahill on Thu Aug 06, 2015 8:46 am

Was having major scheduling problems with last two medicare therapy sessions next week, so, I talked to Matt's boss Tammy, then, Matt about their demands. They agreed to take me, and, Matt drove me there yesterday to talk with them. With minor changes, my last two sessions are Monday, and, Wednesday. I then talked to guard-therapist about the self therapy program that I have to pay for. I start that next Friday.....
The people at the front desk are so messed up that they were telling me I have land therapy Monday for evaluation. I said no. I had already had that two days ago. Then, they said it's in the pool, but, no, you didn't. I said ask Chris. He did the evaluation himself.
Then, they said, yes, but, you have him for therapy in the pool Monday. I said what happened to Hobby. They said, he will be a stand by. HUHHH??
Those people are a mess, and, they don't care.
The therapists are o.k. It's the people at the front desk.
I won't recommend that place to anybody.
Well, I'm starting a new phase. By the way. Two days ago, Chris, to boost me up said I'm walking with a swagger. What's a swagger??
Is that anything like confidence??
