Company For Supper

Post by 75X11 on Mon Apr 27, 2015 6:24 pm

Mr. cat gets his supper tonight and as I walked I saw his puny brother that shows up maybe once a month taking over the food with Mr. cat sitting aside. A short time later, his other brother that has a white mark on his breast bone was eating with the other two aside. He only shows up a couple or three times a year. I remember when they were little babies and now they are about 9 years old.

Improper care... I wonder why the owners take such rotten care of his now starving brother??

These are feral cats. They scrounge for their supper and catch animals. I just try to help them along. I think they have soft touches staked out and they were at loose ends this evening. Very Happy

It's sad in a way, but I've always made sure the little runty one and Mr. cat has enough to get them by. The third one I'm sure has his people too, because he keeps showing up from time to time. This is a residential area with old houses that mice just love.

I got back from my line work one night and Mr. cat was out in the street playing soccer with a mouse. He was the ball, at least til the end of the game, then he was the victory dinner! Basketball

I hope it was the mouse that was the victory dinner, and, not Mr. Cat.

Mr. Cat appears to be doing what cats do naturally. The hunt, play with their prey, then eat what they were playing with. It is good of you to watch out for him.

You guys are lucky with your cats. Mine are lazy worthless bums, they seem like family the way they mooch. A few years ago I had a great cat. He was a good mouse and followed me like a dog would. I would let him in my workshop when I went out there in the winter. I got to where I would get a can of catfood and place it on top of my woodstove to warm. When it was warm I would give it to him. He got to where he would put his paw in it pick a mouthfull up and pop it in his mouth the way a person would pick up popcorn from a bowl. I never had to worry about mice with him.

These bums I have now would ask the mice to bring them a bag of chips to them since the cats are so tired. One time my "best" cat I have now I gave a mouse to. They had let the mice overrun my workshop. I had a empty trash can they had got into. I had 5 or 6 mice in there. I took the trash can out. I gave one to that bum and he grabbed it up so the other cats wouldn't get it. He ran about 20 foot away and released it. My wife and I were talking about over the weekend and we have decided after these go to the big cat house in the sky thats the last cats we will have. They are too much trouble and d-con is cheaper than constantly buying cat food. For what I spend a month in cat food we can buy enough d-con to last a year.

My grandmother used to raise white angora cats. every so often she would get one in a litter that had blue eyes. The bad thing about two blue eyes was the cat would be deaf as a brick. She gave one of these cats to my older sister and it would sit at the bottom of the stairs and meow meow meow all night, which worked out very nicely for my dad who worked the swing shift. That was a truly worthless cat. My mother managed to give it away to an old fellow who was very hard of hearing. That worked.

Missed Monday night this week and after giving Mr Cat his supper I saw one of his old pals about 20 ft. away with something folded up in front of him.

I guess he had company for supper too.
