Hank III

Post by Wildcat445 on Sun Apr 05, 2015 12:56 am

I just this evening found this young man's material.  Yeah, I know, that last man on earth to find out.  I digress.

I'm impressed.  This young man sounds much like his grandfather, Hank Sr., with a beat much like his father, Hank, Jr.  The song I discovered was off his album "Risin' Outlaw".  "Honky Tonk Girls" is one of those rousing beer drinking barroom songs that I am so fond of.  "On My Own" sounds much like Hank Sr. could have recorded it.  "If The Shoe Fits" and "Devil's Daughter" are a tad more "rocky" than some of the other songs on the CD.  I can say, based on the comments on YouTube that "Hank III" has the hormones of post-pubescent young men flowing.  There may be hope for traditional country music yet.

This album was recorded in 1999. I'm only 16 years late. Rolling Eyes

What little I listen to Top 40 country, mostly when the frau has it on in the car, I have never heard Hank III or any of his material. I guess when I listen to dead guys on record all day, my horizons are rather limited. Very Happy

Oh, he is alive, you are looking in the wrong places. He is a metal head, you see.

I sure like that album I cited. I might see if I can find it. His dad, Hank Jr., put out some really good material in the early 1970's. Then he got silly like Willy and Waylon and that bunch and lost me. I could not imagine that the acorn falls far from the tree.
