Unfortunately, that's the norm around here. I'll be glad when that trend is over. It looks stupid & it's hard on the car.

What looks even stupider (is that a word?) is when they put those covered wagon wheels on a truck or SUV, completely detroying its ability to haul things or go off road...yet it still won't keep up with a stock Honda Civic in cornering. So what is it good at? Nothing.

There is a knuckle dragger somewhere who went to a lot of trouble to make that look so bad.

From the Urban Dictionary:

"Donk"
"Any POS late 80's or early 90's American heap (preferably an Impala) that has large enough wheels installed until it resembles (and rides and handles like) a Conestoga wagon. This is done so it sits up high enough so as to be at the same eye level as the Playas with real juice ridin in their Escalades. Adding in a bad candy paint job and Wal-Mart sub box completes the transformation.
With no money left over for necessary suspension and brake upgrades, the lifespan is limited to a few drug runs or the first Police chase, whichever occurs first."

Someone around here has a mid 80's Chevy Suburban fixed up that way.

I think you are being charitable calling a "hoopty" or a "donk" fixed up.  Judge Joe Brown liked using the word "hoopty".  Must be a legal term of some kind.  Very Happy

I would think that having a Suburban jacked up that high would cause concern about the center of gravity going around a corner.

At the last car show I attended, a young man pointed out that my Buick would look "bitchin' with 24's on it, dude".  Not likely in my lifetime.

Those things are ugly cars without all the "hoopty" add-ons. That thing would not make a good demolition derby car.

Being an old fashioned kind of guy, I think the classic term "heap" should apply. Speaking of nasty cars, they presented "Wise Blood" on TCM this last weekend. That is just about the strangest movie I have ever seen. I kept seeing references to Macon in many of the city scenes.

75X11, if you want to see the ultimate in strange flicks, check out "Rubber" (it is technically car related). Or you could just read the synopsis and save yourself two of the most painful hours of your life.

I have a friend who is in his early 20's that likes to do stuff like that, except not as bad. He put 20" rims on an '86 Cutlass and had it painted silver. It was lifted, but just enough to put the 20" rims on it and it needed a paint job badly. It had a very bad sun faded black paint job on it. Everything thing he did was easily undone and put back to factory. Now this thing, it is way too high with way too large of rims on it and I don't think it's worth 20K. Around here, you see similar years and similar vehicles all the way up into the mid-90's but most only have 20-24" rims on them.

Those wheels look like they belong on a farm implement. I can't imagine how anyone would find them attractive.
