Forgotten Treasures

Post by Guest on Tue Dec 30, 2014 11:45 pm

I was looking through some things in my barn today and came across 7 large coffee cans filled with tubes along with a box of about 30 more tubes. These were tubes I pulled as a kid and forgot about. What a pleasant find.

The box had old radio tubes such as Philco 42 and 76.
It looks like the coffee cans had many TV tubes.
I was in a hurry and had to leave everything in the farm house until I get back this week-end.

If you have spare TV tubes, that should give you an excuse to get an old tube TV and fix it up. Very Happy

Get those things cleaned, boxed-up and moved into the house where they belong!

Lucky you! Us kids usually don't get to hang onto too much on the trip to old age.

When you get to old age, you get to retire. You retire so you have time to go to the doctor. Rolling Eyes

Nice find.
When I was a teenager, a friend of mine's dad had sort of a little TV/radio repair shop in the back of the garage. (There was an add-on to the garage with its own door and that was the shop.) He worked ina factory until retirement, but had, in the '60s and early '70s taken a correspondence course in electronics, and used to take in repair work as a sideline and also as a hobby. He had stopped doing anything with it and found new hobbies, too, by the time I knew the family, but the shop still had cool stuff in it. I wish I had the tubes and junk that was back there now. Eventually, they moved to a different house in town, and I don't know if they moved any of that stuff or not. Fun memories though, messing around back there.

They are already in the house and I plan to be back there tomorrow.  Very Happy
They were closed up very well so they are nice and clean.

There is a  9 pin solid tube in there too!  Looks like an 8-2AV2
