I can't find a reference to the radio in Beitman's. Do you have the voltage/s and the size you have for a battery?

The "E" in the model number indicates the radio was new for Philco's 1957 model line-up.

Have to see what they were using at the time for A and B battery configurations....

It looks similar to what Zenith used on a Trans-Oceanic witch was 90 volt and 9 volt.

Excellent! I would get a home depot or big lots pack of 9v transistor batteries. 10 for the 90v and 1 alone or 2 in parallel for the lower voltage.

Looks like the "B" battery is 90 volts and the "A" battery is 7.5 volts for this radio based on the the similar models. Could be wrong though....

I actually have an original Philco battery pack somewhere in the garage. Not sure if it's the one in question.

Look at the tube line up. If there are 4 1.5 volt heater tubes and 1 3 volt heater tube for example a 3V4 and there wired in series it would be 1.5+1.5+1.5+1.5+3=9 volts. For 7.5 volt it would be one less 1.5 volt tube.

I would still try a 9v battery group. They could be had cheaply.

Use 6 D cells for the 9V if they will fit. A transistor 9V will never supply the current for filaments though 6 AA's will do in a pinch. 10 9V transistors will be fine for the B+. Will last for months of heavy use. There is a guy named batterymaker on Arf that mainly makes repos for transoceanics. He has some cool stuff for sale for connecting 10 9V or 6 1.5V both D and AA. He would make the whole replacement mock battery for you complete with graphics but that is $$$$$! Like $150. Great DX radio you have.

Hey Sam,

So glad you found him. Like I said, six AA's will do, but will only last a few weeks. You are dealing with the best. Let us know when your radio sings again.
