Otr On Mp3 CD's And DVD's

Post by 75X11 on Wed Aug 20, 2014 1:18 am

I have recently bought some mp3 radio programs to listen to at work.  They serve another purpose than just entertainment in that they when played through my workstations' media player provides activity to the computer so it will not shut down after 4 minutes.  the most recent series I have gotten are the Jack Benny Program, Dragnet and Information Please.  I mainly got these titles because of the number of episodes that make up the series.  I transfer the discs to usb or sd flash memories and play them from those.  I started with an episode of Jack Benny's cut in 1933 with Chevrolet as the sponsor with one going for $445.  A quick crank of the inflation calculator had the car going for more near $9000 in today's porous bucks.  I went through a few Dragnet episodes too, suprised to hear an early Raymond Burr plying his craft in the cast.  These recordings can be a great value if bought right.  I also heartily endorse the Jean Shepherd collections, and prefer the ones with the intact alcohol and tobacco advertisements that Shepherd would accompany with his nose flute.

If you have a little bit of time to look through them there are sites with radio shows in the public domain. I have a lot of old show I have saved. Here are a few links to find some to download.

Those look to be good sources. I usually get these collections when they are a reasomable price as they have a large number of episodes that I can get at once. Then I can put together daily sets of shows to listen to as I work. I have a good ability to recognize voices and have been able to pick out from the Dragnet episodes Richard Boone, Raymond Burr, Virginia Gregg, Harry Morgan and one I think might be John Mcintire.
