My candidate.....

Post by Wildcat445 on Thu Jul 24, 2014 1:50 pm

....for the most worthless radio ever built. A POS Philips that I got in a box of junk. It was well-placed. I despise European radios, and this thing is part of that reason. When it works, it works well. It is usually broken. Do you have a candidate for the most worthless radio ever built?

This crappideaux unit was the junkiest design this company ever came up with. It cost so much that the users were always bent to have them repaired to like new condition. We lost so much warranty repair money turning them around and around we started calling them tar babies.

HATED the Visar!!! Whoever thought that it was a good idea to mount the controller board directly to the front of the housing was an idiot. One little drop or bump and the controller was trashed. The EX series wasn't much better, one would think that they would have learned a lesson from the Visar.

Another one I was loath to repair was the Motorola MX 300. That unit tried to be like a precision instrument operating in a house fire, car wreck or bar fight and turned out to be a gold brick when they wanted it repaired at any cost. Except for the actual cost. Most remember the classy case. I remember its' gold plated space age innards... http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=motorola+mx+portable+radio&qs=n&form=QBIR&pq=motorola+mx+portable+radio&sc=1-26&sp=-1&sk=#view=detail&id=507C4142C0E718F75C486A7745AC4FB9FDFBDCC3&selectedIndex=11
