GE tube tester

Post by tuberadiogeek on Fri May 30, 2014 1:29 am

Someone on one of those facebook classified ads groups is selling a GE tube tester. There is no model listed or is not visible in the picture. I was thinking maybe someone here could identify it by a picture. The seller said make offer and one person offered 5.00 but I would offer more than that if it is worth getting. The seller also said in the posting they have a bunch of tubes. I have no clue what tubes but I figured they may be worth inquiring about. So i am attaching a picture of the tester.

I hadn't heard of a GE made tester. It looks in acceptable shape. I would look into what kind of reference material could be had for it.

It's a TC-3 emission type tester. Some reference material can be found here:

I have a gut feeling it was privately built by a third party or simply rebranded GE.

I appreciate the info and replies, but the person has not commented back on their post. I would hope they did not take 5.00 for it, just so it could be used as a display piece. I will at least make an attempt to get the tubes, if they are ones that I could use or re-sell.

Its worth more than that if it works. That would be excellent for 4,5,6 pin tubes, the newer testers wont test those. I would question the type of tubes he's selling, if TV tubes, not worth anything unless your into TVs.

I just went to the post and asked if the tubes were still available and I'd be interested in knowing some of the numbers so I would know if I would have a use for them. I would only be interested in a few TV tubes that would go in my '55 GE if I ever get it working.

It looks to be in nice shape.  I may have missed something, but I did not see any miniature tube sockets.

Edit. I did not see Cliff's post. We were thinking the same thoughts.

The lady still has the tubes. She posted pictures of some in the boxes, but didnt show the ends where the numbers would be. All the ones she showed are GE, Tung Sol, RCA, Silvertone, Sylvania and NU. She only said one was a 6A6, which i'm not familiar with at all. I'm going to see if she can give me a total on how many tubes she has and how much she is thinking for all of them.
