What a horrible state of affairs. I remember listening to his program on AFRTS in Germany on weekends when I was in areas that I could receive it. They had no one like him on BFBS.

I admired Casey Kasem. He was to pop what Ralph Emery was to country. He and Wolfman Jack had programs on WLS that my wife liked back in the day. Another great in a sad state of affairs.

Ralph Emery was how the Judds got famous. I use to watch him on the morning show from Nashville. I lived in Nashville going to college and met folks who told me a lot of the inner workings of Nashville and of the Judds.

As far as Casey goes he was great, I wonder how anyone wouldn't like him. He was great with the top 40. He did a skit on Dean Martins celebrity roast pretending to be Hitler. How anyone could make hitler funny is beyond me but if I remember he pulled it off. So sad he was a great radio guy. Maybe I am just to old and past the times. But it was a great time back then.

My wife started listening to him when she lived in Michigan. Northern Michigan, Leelenau County. WLS was a huge clear channel station in Chicago. You could hear that station all over the Midwest. One did have to have their radio tuned to 890 to hear it, however.

I guess He was found in Port Orchard Wa, where I live. I remember Him as a local disc jockey in the early 60s when I was in High School in Long Beach, He worked at a couple of different Radio Stations KFWB, KHJ and KRLA in L.A. CA. It brings back Memories of My own American Graffiti times. Car Races, PolyHigh football team against Lakewood, Compton. We won CIF 2 years in a row. Windows down in the cars blasting out the Rock and Roll Radio sounds, And yes even in California We could get Wolf Man Jack Broadcasting from XERB in Mexico with His studio in Chula Vista Ca.

Your right Cliff, Van Nuys in the 50s/60s and KFWB and KHJ were the stations of choice. Of course XERB was blasting in as well with their over powered transmitter in Mexico.
Great memories, Jerry
