winding rf coils

Post by butch on Sat Feb 07, 2009 10:02 pm

i have a couple of sets that have burnt out or damaged rf coils and was thinking of building a coil winder and rewinding them.the problem on at least one set is the coil is mostly missing having been torn off by mice so i can't count the turns.i was wondering is there a site which gives # of winds in say a 175 kz if coil or some guidelines on how to figure the needed inductance?butch

Here is a site I had bookmarked that discusses the subject. It has some handy calculators too. It's oriented towards making coils from scratch, but I don't see why you couldn't use the calculators for repair work, as long as the coils are air core. If they're the "permeability tuned" kind with the ferite rod in the center, then that's a different problem.
