They say propane is down to $1.80 in Iowa. I hope that goes for Missouri, too. How are you guys doing out your way?

I remember when my folks went through their alternative fuels phase. they tried wood, then kerosene and wood, then kerosene. they dyed the interior of their house brownish yellow, had 2 creosote calamities, melted down a brand new shop vac taking up cold dead ashes from the stove and a tick infestation from wood storage. That learned that old greedy gas company!

That is also rife with pitfalls. The trip back home is a killer. Cutting firewood is easier, as I can get a buddy to help me. I make that trip by myself.

I was thinking about a warmer climate permanently. But then I guess I would be paying to keep cool.

You can't win.

I have been considering that myself. You can operate a swimming pool on solar and heat it, too. Cheaper and more fun that buying that crappy propane.
