Modern Television Problem

Post by Guest on Mon Mar 03, 2014 3:20 pm

I'm trying to help a friend from my telephone board with a projection TV problem.

You can read his post and our responses here; http://www.myphonetechs.com/index.php?topic=5271.0

I'll try and get him to join TRF also.

PS; I've never worked on TV's other than to get a SAMS and fix my own.

You might try to post on VideoKarma and see what they have to say. I'm not much on TV, either. Maybe Bill can shed some light on this problem.

I'm afraid my forte is not modern tv. Video Karma is his only hope.

Bill what would be our best avenue to hook MR MEZ up to the guys on VK? Surely somebody over there could head him in the right direction. I am registered there, so I guess I could link the link he posted on VK? Your guidance will be appreciated. I'd like to help if I can, but am unsure how best to proceed.

I worked on a JVC with similar issues a few years back. The convergence IC's go bad due to heat, then they take out the low resistance bias resistors.

Here's a youtube:

Join here. They have a good section for modern electronics as well.
Also, Dr. Radio's idea makes a lot of sense.

The STK convergence IC are probably bad... Usually they short and blow a fuse in the convergence circuit, not the main fuse though... Maybe has convergence a P/S problem, if so it's a 99% the IC caused the problem...

I quit messing with that stuff in '05(retired) other than replacing ICs in a couple Samsungs for friends, ain't touched one since... Well I did touch my 50" Hitachi, only when I loaded it in  the back of the truck and took it to another friend...
