I don't think the error means anything at this point. We'll have to wait until the site comes up before knowing if the passwords etc. still work.

I would bet that the member list is not built yet and therefore, when you get the login screen with your login and password populated, it doesn't recognize you because you don't exist... yet. Let's all be patient. Alan is doing us all a big favor... And it is for free...

What more can we ask?

To be honest I wouldn't be opposed to shutting the whole thing down and starting over. Each one of us can sign on once again, and we can start anew with messages. After all, who goes back to read messages that are say, a month old? If the situation is this, a fresh start, vs. being down for days while reloading files that may well contain the bugs which caused the problem in the first place, I'll go with the fresh start.

Hi, I have gone back months and years. I expect to do it again with an update of a situation that is a year old or more.

Archives have been lost in the past. I don't think you will find much of anything pre- 2000.

Greetings Gents! Glad to find ya all! Smile

Ohhh...gee...make ARF 'fresh'? I'd be screwed. Shocked
How am I gonna remember who I spoke to about
this or that? Which reminds me...anyone besides me think it would be
cool to have the ability on the PM page to make a sub-box where one can
make a note to oneself about subjects or members?

Regards, Michael

I use the search function and I get stuff that is related to my query.

There is much information in the archives to be able to use.

Here's what I don't quite understand: (being fairly new to ARF)
Does Alan actually post and use ARF?

Some of you guys have been members for years and years over there; is anyone actually friends with Alan?

Does anyone actually speak to him on.....say, on the phone?

Has anyone actually met Alan?

If yes to the above, why doesn't someone just call him and ask how it's going? Then give us periodic updates.

If NO to all the above, how do we know Alan really exists? Perhaps it's like some twisted Twilight Zone episode where he isn't a real person but the "personality" of the ARF server itself! Shocked

PS- Where is Curt? My guess would be a 12-step program or an AFR-anan meeting somewhere in Idaho. Very Happy

Alan rarely talks on the phone, but, I have talked with him in the past, so, yes, he exists!
Yes, he has been doing some posting, as well.....

Glad to hear that Bill. cheers If memory serves me, there was at least one Star Trek episode where a "computer" took-over as the leader of a planet or two.
It reminds me of a guy that I know. He owns one of the best repeater systems in the NY, NJ, PA area. It gets tons of use, is linked to 4 bands, has phone patch, voting receivers, echo-link, etc. It's probably the most used machine around, but you never hear him use it. He works very hard to keep it running well, maintains it better than a life-support system, and has poured a good amount of money into it.
I've known him for many years. For him, the design and maintenance is what is "fun" to him. As long as folks are using and enjoying it, he's happy. Thank goodness for us, there are people like him and Alan around.
