New Old Guy saying Hello

Post by MrBill on Thu Feb 20, 2014 4:20 pm

Just wanted to jump in and say hello. Im recapping a TravLer clock radio 5170 and a Zeinth 12H090. Looking forward to lots of advise. I have been in the HVAC industry for 36 years and the past 7 in computer control programming of HVAC and metering. I really enjoy the contrast of my work and hobby. I am also an avid cyclist. Married for 32 years and 2 great kids.

Welcome to TRF, MrBill. There are lots of helpful and friendly folks on here.

Those little Trav-Ler radios suffer from bad IF transformers and SMD. I have a 5170 parts radio, should you need parts. It has at least one bad IF, but the rest is okay. Good luck.

Regards

WC

Welcome to TRF. There is an excellent article here about rebuilding IF transformers. Dr. Radio is our resident expert here.

Thanks guys, I have just finished recapping the Travler and happy to say its working great!! On to the Zeinth 12H090. I was wondering if anyone had a good clock lense for the Travler as mine is cracked.
