Keep Diamond, and, me in your prayers Empty Keep Diamond, and, me in your prayers

Post by Bill Cahill on Sun Dec 08, 2013 8:54 am

Please keep Diamond, my dog, and, me, in your prayers. Tuesday, I am taking her to the vet to get spayed.. She is seven of our years old, which means in dog years, she's middle aged....
She had a false pregnancy for the first time ending this week, and, vet warned me if I don't get her fixed it could lead to cancer. So, reluctantly, I'm getting job done.
Please keep us in your prayers that she survives, and, recovers quickly...
Thank you..

My prayers and best wishes for you and Diamond. We have had several dogs spayed, and it was no big deal. Maybe more concern for an older dog. She'll have to be quiet for a few days.

Bill,

She may need extra rest due to her age. Be sure to ask the vet if there are any other considerations for care after the surgery. Plenty of rest and she'll be fine.

Is there a reason she wasn't spayed when you first got her?

Best of luck. We had to put our female dog down several months ago because of a major urinary/uterus problem. The vet said if she was spayed, then she would never have had the problem. So better to have it done, even though later.

Brought her back yesterday evening.
At first, she seemed fine.. Then, last night, things started sliding downhill.
As of this morning, she has peed in the house four times, refuses to eat, and, when I try to give her her favorite dog treat she growls at me. I've called the vet. I'm to call them before noon today. They are talking that they may want her back in today to find out what's going on. Apparently, something went wrong...
They're not saying, but, I'm wondering, urinary tract infection??????

Our female Golden Retriever gets urinary tract infections occasionally. That is exactly how she acts. She NEVER pees in the house, but she gets really irritable when she does not feel well. She wants to pee every five minutes. We keep antibiotics in the house to take care of her when that happens. You and Diamond are in our prayers.

Good news. False feelings. In fact, when my meals on wheels arrived this afternoon she suddenly got hungry. I got her food out of fridge, and, addes some of mine to it. She devoured it... Since then, she's been slowly improving......
She had a good meal tonight, and, is drinking some water. She has done some proper pottying outside.... I can tell she's in pain, but, she's better than I thought...
Vet even sounded encouraging about it....
Just a matter of time, now... She was given a two week long antibiotic shot to keep infections away while healing...
I'm very happy she's improving......

Glad to hear on the good news on pig. I remember when your first little pig died a few years back.... I'm an animal lover. I would remember these things....
Diamond wouldn't come to the kitchen this morning, but, when I brought the dish of food out to her this morning, she ate the entire thing.....
Then, she went into the kitchen, and, drank a lot of water...

The antibiotics may make her more thirsty. If she is eating and drinking, that is good.

Bill,

Sounds promising indeed! Just remember to remind her to take it easy. Smile With that invasive of a surgery she still needs plenty of rest and not to get too excited/stressed. That will promote the healing process. Best wishes.
