On Monday I start a new job at work and it involves the use of portions if microsoft excel. I am trying to learn it well enough to not look completely lost when I start. I don't know yet how this will affect my posting on this site. It is hard to tell how this would change my income if it were to become permanent, but it at least gets me off the streets in time for the shopping riots and uses up some of the early darkness days for a while. It is a semi- executive position, with better hours too.

Well, if it betters yourself, and your finances, no harm there!

Here's just one of many resources that may help:

This job has almost jinxed me. About a couple of weeks after starting it, I noticed a swelling on my upper heel. It has turned out to be a ruptured achilles tendon. I have had to wear a plastic shell on it since and next Friday I go in to have blood drawn and the platelets extracted from it and have that injected into the tendon under general anaestesia. They say the sandmen will charge a max ot $1.5k to do their stuff. I've been to doctors 3 days a week since first being diagnosed and I can't stay to work late at the bosses' whim. (tsk, tsk) During this, the fellow who worked the senior portable repair position decided to retire and I bid for the job. And got it. Now I am working the desk job with the repair job being held open for me. I feel like the end of this weeks' episode every Friday. At least I'm not on the road every shift.

I think you're better off without that executive position. Can't remember mot of it now, but, learned excel years ago. I have the course on floppy disc, and, no longer have a machine to play it on. Darn.

Well, now I'm a portable radio technician again. If I can just get some good out of my tendon procedure Thursday and get rid of this rotten weather, things should improve.

Thank you. It's hard suddenly being handicapped, but at least this job makes it easier to be so.
