In this ebay auction, the seller claims that this Zenith tv gets a picture without an antenna. How can that be? I thought analog tv was dead in the US. Is Illinios exempt for some reason? This thing should not have a picture even with an antenna.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-BLACK-AND-WHITE-ZENITH-TV-/251393466606?pt=Vintage_Electronics_R2&hash=item3a8837e0ee

The picture appears to be to snowy for the tv to be connected to a VCR or something. Ideas? I like this tv for some reason.

WC,

Not everyone has switched.

There are exceptions for now. For example, last year I fired up my 1977 Zenith table top b/w set and was able to pull in 3BN religious programming off of the UHF band. Low power is an example:

There may be an LPTV station still operating in Phoenix, according to that link that you were good enough to provide. Thanks, Doc. I learned something.

It looks like it has a internal wire for a antenna. I think I remember some like that. I had a couple of old zeniths TVs similar to that but with metal cases only, no wood or legs. You almost couldn't kill them, they played forever it seemed like. I think I gave them away, I wish I still had one.

I guess I need to get out more. I had no idea that ANY analog tv of any kind still existed. I must be the only guy on the planet who did not know that. That's why I value you guys and this forum so much. I like that Zenith tv. My aunt had a Zenith in the late '50.s that had an 8 inch speaker and a vertical chassis. "Super Royal" I think it was called. It ran forever, like Willy says.
