hey all

Post by Renaissance Man on Wed Nov 20, 2013 2:01 pm

Current member of ARF (under a different name). I have been in to this hobby for about a year, Still a novice with repair experience from about 20+ radios, some test equipment, and misc stereo equipment form the 60's and 70's.

I have 20+ years in computers and related equipment.
Still working.
Got in to this hobby in my search to find a radio that I used to have as a kid, one thing led to another and now I have a bench, VTVM, Dim bulb Tester, Variac, Isolation transformer, signal generators, oscilloscopes, frequency counter, and so on!

I love to fix old radios, but I am not so concerned that they be restored to 100% original condition, I like them to be safer, and have some added value to hopefully get others interested in this hobby. To that end I upgrade or improve my radios with the more common things that make them safer, and install an mp3/audio in all my AA5 and JA5 radios.

I frequent thrift stores and have scored some pretty nifty stuff, some of which I keep, some I flip on ebay.

A Bradford (model # escapes me)

My best sounding (and smelling) AM Radio, a Newcomb B-100

Also My avatar is a picture of my Dad taken back in the 1960's when the City of Phoenix took delivery of the fire truck in the picture. He was not a fireman, just a fire buff.

My folks had a Bradford console stereo and color TV. I remember that it was W.T. Grant's department store's brand. The stereo and TV outlasted Grant's by a number of years. Thanks for sharing your collection with us!

From a former Tuscon dweller welcome to the site. Those are my favorite radios, the tabletops. Now I thing I will go over in a corner and cry since I am a "former" Tuscon dweller while some of you get to enjoy AZ. Seriously I love AZ.
