1N4005 OK for selenium replacement?

Post by dorpmuller on Tue Jan 20, 2009 5:53 pm

Any of you kind folks know if a 4005 is a safe substitute for a 4007 rectifier? Of course Radio Shack didn't have any 4007's... got the usual deer in the headlights look.

(for selenium replacement in my G500)

Only spec difference is rated PeakReverseVoltage: 600 volts for the 1n4005, 1000 volts for the 1n4007. Both are ample.
Current specs are same. Either is fine.

Rich, I have extra 4007s. PM me your address and I'll send you a few.

Any chance of your posting a larger photo of that great Zenith tube ad? Or PM it?
Isn't it funny how, in the more modest past, some areas were less prudish than today.
