I'll kick this off with : I have major reservations about Obama. Personally I do not feel he is fit to be president due to his almost total lack of any real world experience for this kind of position. Not to mention the almost total media cover up of anything questionable about his past associations. He hasn't had to answer nor was he allowed to be asked the hard questions. This vetting process they talk about was pretty much absent in his case, he was given a total free pass. When he did screw up, others were made to suffer for it, i.e Joe the Plumber for an example. He talks about bankrupting the coal industry ( which by the way produes 50% of our electrical power) and has come up with no suitable alternative. This man would not have even been given a security clearance position if he had joined the U.S. military, but here he is, about to become commander in chief of the most powerful military force in the world. He talks about our having to make sacrifices , yet he's about to let $170 million be spent on his coronation, 4 times more than for President Bush's innauguration. I'm sorry but I can't have any respect for someone who gets into a leadership position and has the attitude of "Do as I say, Not as I do" and will act like the rules don't apply to him like they do to normal people. Evil or Very Mad

I did start this for political discussion Bill, as I stated on ARF no foul language and no members personally attacking one another. This forum site is not ARF I don't want to see the kind of censorship they seem to have on that site at times. Besides maybe we can get more people to come here when they know they aren't as free to state their minds on ARF. It's a way to grow the site a little, I hope.

I have to pretty much agree with everything you have said. I have never seen a candidate the media wouldn't touch, the media is is what got him elected. I think we are in for a wild ride.

Deity, or maybe Entertainer, I don't think tyhe American public at large seems to care about a persons actual qualifications. Only how much entertaining they will be.

Agree.

The response that's going around, as if this were a talking point that's faxed to every news media outlet (and probably was), is "He's not even in office yet; let's give him a chance. We must be fair. Let's throw our support behind him and see what he can do for us."

Okay. I'll support Obama to the same degree as this same news media supported George W. Bush after HE was elected. Nobody can argue with that now, can they?

What we have witnessed is an absolutely great marketing job. The people behind him, whoever they are, have done a magnificent job with advertising like we have never seen previously. We bought this guy without knowing what we were buying. Lets hope that he comes with a good warranty.

Old losers never die, they just whine at each other in perpetuity.

First our reputation across the globe was in tatters, then it was the country itself from an economy in meltdown. Nobody can argue with THAT, now can they?

Well whatever, keep watching Faux News, the only media outlet that can get it right. After all, even if they can't always keep their guys and their guys' favored guests from sticking a foot in their mouth, they'll gladly alter the transcipts. Twisted Evil

Have a nice day....

First off,
Our country's image is not in tatters and never has been. You will always find those abroad who are jealous of this nations many great accomplishments, done in a span of time less than most other nations have been in existance.
The present economic meltdown as you call it , has its roots in the past. You could put it all the way back to the Carter years, and Bill Clinton certainly didn't help when he pushed for everyone to be able to own their own house, even if they couldn't afford to make the payments, a situation that has been made worse in the past couple of years by an interfering government telling the financial institutions they have to give out loans to those who can't afford to make the mortgage payments. Then the real kicker that started this whole line of dominoes falling down was ol' chucky schumers run on India Bank, he set out to destroy that bank and in the process destablized the whole market.
You may not like Fox News, but thats only you whining, Fox News has the highest ratings of all the news services, I wonder why?? Could it be they put out more of the TRUTH than the others and don't spin it as much? I'm not saying Fox is perfect, but they are a damn site better than the others.

You too, Have a Nice Day....... Very Happy

I should start by saying I have The same disdain And distrust for the right and the left.
Someone mentioned the word Marketing.
There Hasn't been a president elected in over 100 years that hasn't used sophisticated marketing strategies to get to the WhiteHouse.
This last Election was one to be studied By all students of marketing and business for Many years to come.
lets try an experiment, lets try and market this icon below
affraid
1-This icon will Lead you to prosperity. affraid
2-it will bring all people together in harmony.affraid
3-this Icon will erase all ill will and bad feelings all other nations have towards us.affraid
4-it will help fix all problems left by other icons before it. affraid
5-This icon can cure the common cold affraid
6-if you don't believe in this icon you are against, prosperity, harmony, your nations reputation, and progress!!! affraid affraid affraid affraid affraid affraid affraid
so of course many of us want all these things and we want to buy into this.
now if you keep pushing these Ideals to a large crowd With the right amount of Flash, cash, and media, mirrors You now have a Movement Like "The Pepsi Generation"(another Brilliiant Marketing Strategy).
Now you have Your Market and if you Dare ask to this market"
1-has this Icon ever lead any one to prosperity?affraid
2-Has this icon really Ever brought all together in harnomy? affraid
3-Has this icon ever erased any bad feelings from other Nations Towards Us? affraid
4-Has this icon ever Fixed any problems for us in the past? affraid
5-I still have a cold maybe this icon is good for nothing? affraid
do you know what your response would be If you asked any one of those people who believed in This Icon affraid Without ever seeing what it can do?
"************A Rush Limbaugh fan ***********watching Fox news"

I can't stand Rush Limbaugh ,Bill O'rielly,Or fox news and my Favorite New politician Is Al Franken.
So don't try to pin any of that crap on me because I didn't buy into an empty Icon!
affraid

I will agree that Presidents have used the best marketing strategies they could get when running for office, they would be fools not to. However, in this case, its the reverse, while I'm sure Obama used his own marketing strategies, almost the whole media was using its strategies to support Obama. Anyone paying attention could see it was for all intents and purposes a very one sided affair. The media covered up for Obama, the media praised Obama for everything, they have raised him up on an ivory tower as though he were the second coming of Christ. That speech he gave where they set up the stage like a greek temple as though Obama were some kind of greek god was ludicrous.

If Al Franken is your favorite new politician, lol.

The guy was a failed comedian, I saw him years ago on saturday night live and didnt think much of him then. Later on he tried his own liberal talk show as a challenge to Sean Hannity, and it utterly bombed. Somehow he was able to use the hollywood left to finagle his way into politics and it looks like he and they have successfully stolen a senatorial seat, what with all the miss counted ballots, and way more ballots than registered voters, etc etc etc. Evil or Very Mad
