I've not seen them here but if they are used in law enforcement they are sufficiently developed to be reliable and tamperproof to preserve the chain of custody considerations. With the love affair the UK has with cctv in general, I can understand their being the proving ground for such technology. Thanks for the heads up.

I work in the public safety electronics industry. I'm not familiar with the camera badges, but I am well versed in other camera systems, including in-car systems and devices worn by the officers. Systems that are designed for the public safety sector are built with special attention to the "chain of custody" concern. The videos are burned onto a DVD or are downloaded onto the department's server, cannot be altered and can be stored indefinitely without the degradation that plagued the old VHS systems. Many of these cameras can be accessed by supervisors and watched real time from the department's headquarters. These systems are a wonderful tool for the protection of the officers as well as citizens. When you have a clear, irrefutable, visual proof of an incident, it eliminates all of the "he said, she said" from the equation. It also keeps the officers in line, because they know that they are being watched as well.
