Some health problems.....

Post by Bill Cahill on Fri Jul 19, 2013 6:56 pm

Due to the original post going way off topic, that being the 8" RCA, I have decided to change this post, and, put it in the clubhouse..
I will bring up the RCA again iin the proper spot when I have sets pulled out of hiding.

Sorry for lack of activity here. I have been down with continued problems with health. That's why I haven't been on the forums much lately.
Stolmach acid, etc.., continuing problems with that. Geez...

Guess that's all I can do. My legs are swelled up again, now that they've taken the bangages off, and, proclaimed me "cured".

Well, with luck, I think I'm getting something that should help me out.
I'm slated to get a machine called "the boot". It's a pair of boots you put your feet, and, legs into. You fasten them, and, plug in a pump. Somehow, it forces the fluids back up your legs to start circulation again. I will have to wear these things about fifteen min. at least three times a day. If they work, it's worth it.
The biggest worry I have is fluid building back up, which it is now beginning to, again...
This should make it more possible to have a somewhat normal life, again.

I was wondering about that, my sister used them and they worked for her. She was not able to get the exercise necessary to get the circulation going, so her lower legs would have fluid buildup. Those kept that in check pretty well. It's good to hear from you regularly, and your health will do just fine for news.

Thanks.. I look forward to getting them. I want to keep going forward. Not backward.
It's been an emotional roller coaster ride, and, I never thought anything like this could happen, but, it has.. There are problems, and, My faith in the medical system has gone down..Truly hoping they come soon, and,, work well. I want desperately to get my legs working better.......

If the doctors and health care folks are giving you things to do, keep to it as close as you can. And ask all the questions you can.

Not much about it to call a "system." More like a loose collection of semi-competent, poorly communicative people trying to make a buck.

Re: Some health problems.....

Post by Bill Cahill on Tue Jul 30, 2013 3:37 pm

Yes, I'm finding that out......
My doctor's office received a call from the mannufacturer of the device I need to try to help them with the order for me, and, were told to "Butt out. It's none of your business.".
I'm being put on hold, being lied to by the doctor, by Bay Care,, etc...
The OT assoc. with Bay Care told me today "There is nothing I can do for you  bcause you are blind, and, arthritic.
That was the last straw...
I said what are you supposed to do with me? he said "To teach you how not to walk into walls.".
I said I don't walk into walls. He said, "Then there's nothing I can do to help you.".
Nothing, but, lies!
PT closed my case the day before my bandages were permanently removed. The head of the department said you should have asked pt
for help getting socks on. In the first place, pt never offered to do that, and, with the bandages on, it couldn't be done anyway.
When I tried, again, to explain that, She said your case is already closed.. You should have asked them. Oh, brother. More passing the
buck, and, claiming blind people can't take care of themselves.
I'm really fed up............

Bill I was told to go home and die 4 years ago by 2 different doctors. So far I have refused to do it. I found an other doctor that could help me. If you are not happy with the service you are getting go some place else and find someone that will help. Just don't give up. We are all pulling  for you.

Thanks for thehelp. I have no intention of quitting, but, it is proving to be really tough. I know I eventually will get Meals on wheels, but, I'm at the end of a very long list.
Could be a year... They are trying to find other help to get my house cleanned, do major yard work, etc...
This is an agency I was referred to that called me this afternoon. They asked many questions, which I honestly answered...
I pray that some help comes soon. Bills are so far being met, but, there are many things I just can't pay for...
I don't know. Maybe I'd better change the title of this thread, and, move it, but, I'd still like to get back on the tv soon.

Our country and families need to do a better job of helping out those who are having health problems as we/they get older. We're all heading that way and a lifetime of work and contribution ought to be worth something.

Re: Some health problems.....

Post by Bill Cahill on Mon Aug 05, 2013 9:57 am

Thanks, guys. Now, let's try to get this back on course... I was looking at the set I was attempting to re build, and, ran into a gigantic snag.. Some one had put an Emerson picture tube in that set. Looks like a dud. All adjustments inside were backwards, and, they had one of the metal centering rings resting on the terminals of the yoke. I ended up taking tube completely out. I put my attention to the junker, and, found out more bad news...
Sometime in the recent past, that set had been "worked on", apparently by someone who barely knew what they were doing..
It has a few modern square Chinese caps in it, and, one blue Chinese cap .The rest are original. They apparently had hv because there was an hv fire. The second anode is burned black, the insulation is burned off, and, the metal connector was solidly on a paper cap connected to flyback. That cap is burned to a crisp..
I tried removing that picture tube from that set, and, was unable to get it apart. Both ion traps, if the y are supposed to have magnetism don't have any at all.. Looks like I got into a project to hard for me.... Tell me what you think.. Anyone got any original RCA schematics on this one?? The sams doesn't even go into the assembly on pictuire tube at all, and, scarcely tell how to adjust centering rings, not even telling where to stick the screwdriver to do it.

I wish I could help, but I have no television schematics at all.  I'll do some looking around online. A model number will be of value for this.

Somebody had rebuilt these, and, had a copy of original factory litterature. I e mailed myseld a copy of that. The bad news is it appears I am missing parts.
Also special ion trap magnet on both sets appears to be dead.

Sorry. I gave up on them. They're both junkers. Missing important parts from yoke assembly. I tried asking for help at VK, and, didn't receive any.. I have two red ones I need to dig out to see condition. I'll let you know when I have them out.
Thanks for your patience.
