Edison R8 filter caps

Post by Skip on Mon Jul 15, 2013 11:26 pm

I have two Edison R8 and R7 radios to go through.  Both are in great shape with one original paper on the speaker and the other reconed.  So far all coils and transformers check out.  My question is for the three caps C27,28 and 29 should I us e-caps or just plain 1 and 2mf caps at 630 vdc or higher.

Thanks. Figured since the E-caps were new, large and expensive back then. Edison would not have used them. Swapped the three out and so far the set is playing like it should.

Original caps were one, two, and, threee mf, at 600 volts, so, 630 volts is fine.
