I needed some fresh air

Post by 276merc on Tue Jul 02, 2013 12:39 pm

After having the new ARF admin read and delete a PM between myself and another member and then denying it and bouncing me for posting a warning to the group I need a place that doesnt remind me of a dictatorship. Been watching this forum for awhile and decided to sign up as I see many others from there.
Been a ham since 1955, still very active including a recent return to my roots....vintage tube AM gear. Also work 160M to microwave CW and SSB and thinking about some digital modes.
Started as a tech in the USN and later in life got the BSEE and MSEE and worked primarily in RF R&D for startups and military contractors such as BAE-Sanders in Nashua NH. First job out of active duty was National Radio and spent almost 7 years as a Service Dept Tech, Service Manager, and Sr Engineering Aide. Spent a total of 28 years in the USN, mostly Reserves.
Ive been building a collection of vintage ham, commercial, military and consumer electronics for about 30 years and also do repairs/restorations for others.
My second hobby is 50's vintage hot rods, custom cars and some pre WW2 originals.

Welcome to TRF. I used to be a mod there, and, there is no way mods, or,, administration can delete pm's. Possibley you didn't clean out your pm boxes. They will only hold so much, and, the same happens here. You have to keep an eye on them, or, they just go into cyber space. That's the way pm's are set up at almost all forums.
Only so manny, then, you must remove some, or, they just dissappear.

I doubt they deleted them, just a mis understanding. But, certainly, you are welcome here..

Bill, I guarantee you they can and did, at least at the admin level and with the proper software. It was a fresh, top of the screen PM. Think NSA and setting up an enemies list at a lower level.

A member sent me a PM that I didnt get to reply to but left it up on the screen of the basement PC.
Later he sent me a note on the Communications Receiver forum asking if I had received his PM. When I pulled that up on the upstairs PC the subject said Deleted and the author John Bartley.
I printed out both and have been rather vocal about it on forums and at radiomeets and hamfests.

Their current way of doing business will be their destruction.

All this over Herr Bartley not liking something I did when a WTB in the classifieds went unanswered and I reposted in the Comm forum with a plea to leave it up for a day. Herr Bartley deleted it but not before a member sent me that PM and had the part.

It seems like each engine shoots off a little steam when pulling into this station.  Smile
