My new toy arrived!!!

Post by Bill Cahill on Fri Oct 24, 2008 1:31 am

A 1949 Bendix 10" table model tv in a mahogany case. Isn't it a beuty? Here are two pix after cleaning it, and, replacing one of the missing knobs.

And,

Isn't it a beuty?? I like the rounded edges, and, the four square feet with heavy felt pads. Very Happy
It's in the line up afterr other repairs are finnished.
I traded a forum member a Hickock tube tester to get this gem.....
It has the original back cover.
The dealer that sold it on ebay had it plugged in. Shocked It actually showed a partial raster!!!
Bill Cahill Very Happy

That is pretty. At a quick glance I would take it for a radio that somebody cleaned the markings
off of the dial.

There are no missing markings. It is a large channel selector knob with a small window. The numbers are on the dial escutcheon.

Well, since I'm presently at a standstill on my prized tv, the family RCA due to bad controls I need to replace, I'm gonna put the Bendix back on the bench, and, continue re building. Have one good 10BP4 that I'll use in it.
Electrolytics are almost totally replaced, then, on to the paper capacitors.
It will go on bench next week.

Well, Bendix is back on the bench, and, I'm resuming work on it. It's going to take awhile. Most electrolytics are now replaced. I'll post a picture of how it's coming....

Hi Bill. What # crt is in that? A couple of years ago I needed a 16gp4 and there was a guy who had about 25 crt's in his garage. The one I needed he didn't have but I remember a lot of smaller old crt's 10 or 12 inch. He since died but I am friends of the family. The house and garage have been empty and I don't thing anything has been disposed of yet. Hopefully there may be one there and if so I'll take my b&k and check it.I could probably get one for the asking.

The tube that set, and, several others need is a 10BP4, and, I could also use 10FP4 tubes.

I do need more 16GP4 tubes, as well.
Thanks.

I'll get over there this week. It's about 25 miles from me but I usually work in that area at least once a week. I'll keep you informed.
