Zenith question Empty Zenith question

Hey gang, I was at an antique store yesterday and spotted a 1938 or 1939 Zenith 9S-344 chairside. It's in rough shape but very salvageable. It is complete although there is green "stuff" on the backside of the chasis. I've bought several radios and phonographs from this store in the past. They price there stuff reasonable and about right. I was wondering what would be an adequate offer as there is no tag on it. I was thinking forty or fifty bucks.
I guess I shouldn't say complete as it is missing the knobs. It does have the big dial knob but it is plastic as well as the dial pointer. I thought the dial would have been gold and the knobs wood. This thing has kind of been stuck in my brain ever since.
Thanks a bunch.

Actually, it sounds like it has the correct knob, and, pointer on it.
That was the time they started moving away from the wooden knobs.
Does it have the robot dial? , or, just a celulid dial?
How good is the speaker? Green chassis. Never heardof that. They are generally a special gold paint.
I doubt you'd be able to copy that very easily.
I don't think I'd want to offer more than 150 dollars in that conditon.
But, knowing more might change my opinion.

The green "stuff" he is mentioning sounds like corrosion.

I know that, Tony. I said it wrong. I meant the copper paint would be hard to copy. Thanks.

Yah Bill, it is a robot dial however it is not the standard black I'm used to. The dial face, all three, are more of a greyish as well as the dial pointer. I suppose it could be faded from the sun. The speaker appears to be in good condition. All tubes appear intact.

I'll see what I can do. Maybe sneak over there on my lunch break.
Thanks for the input.
