I'm a photographer. I guess I'm professional 'cause I sell a lot of my stuff as postcards and mounted 8X10's I have one photo of a bee on a flower that has won a couple of awards. When I had my concussion I did something REALLY stupid. I sold about a thousand, ($1,000) dollars worth of equipment for $450.

My dog and I go to this neighborhood dog run. It's very social and fun for the dogs. Rocky just doesn't get fetching a ball, or maybe he's just lazy like me. One of the guys that hangs out there asked if I wanted a camera. He never uses it and it's just in the way. I thought it'd be some cheap point and shoot. Actually it is a Canon EOS Rebel XT. It is a great camera. I had a 20D and this has all of the same features and weighs about half as much. I've seen them on eBay in this condition with the lens for as much as $400.
I'm back into photography, in fact I took 78 photos today- so I guess you could say it was life changing. A REALLY great gift.

That's a great gift.

I have the same model. Ironically mine was a gift as well. I think I have the manual in .PDF somewhere if you need it.

It's an amazing camera, I only use about 1/10th of what it is capable of.

Here's an interesting factoid, the pictures in my Step-By-Step rebuild thread are all taken by that camera. Very Happy

Yeah, it is a great camera. Mine came with a really expensive bag, the manual, UV and Polarization filters and a wide angle lens. I traded the lens for a card reader. Eventually I want to get an image stabilization (IS) telephoto and a macro lens.

Getting this camera and scoring a nice telephoto lens is like getting half of my life back. My two hobbies in my old apartment were photography and repairing old radios. I've done some repairs for friends, like a tape deck and a Dual turntable, but no AA5's.
Maybe this will get me back in gear.

I am making some vintage mic cables to sell on eBay because I lucked into a good source for 3 and 4 pin connectors. But that isn't the same as trouble shooting a recalcitrant radio. Most of you know what I mean, right?

Yeah, but getting some money for your work can be a nice consolation, though.

Yep!
I eventually sell every one I make. Part of that is I'm $5 cheaper than the only other seller. Theirs go for $40, mine for $35. Pretty smart huh?

Smart on both your part and those that buy them. That ought to help get a war chest together for getting a good project radio or two and the expendables they use up.
