Hi Everyone

I'm from New Kensington, PA which is near Pittsburgh. Just a quick intro before heading off to work. I have had an interest in radios since the 60's. My dad used to repair radios as a side job. He would let me replace the bad components I have been in and out of the hobby since then. Lately, I have started to collect radios from the "conelrad" era and want to repair some of them. I have about 6 tube radios, most of the rest are transistors but I hope to add more tube radios when I can. Thanks!

Lately, I have started to collect radios from the "conelrad" era and want to repair some of them.

I remember that, 640KC and 1240KC on the dial.

Welcome to TRF, you'll find some great help here! Smile

Welcome! That is an interesting period. I have a Bendix home dosimeter set. 2 Dosimeters and the battery operated zeroing unit.

I have a dosimeter set also! I picked this era to collect radios because I am also interested in the history of the cold war. Also this was the time of transition from all tube radios to transistors, I thought it would be interesting to see how the end of tube radios (I know perish the thought!) and the beginning of transistors compared.

I must admit that tube radios sound much better. There is something about the warmth of the sound that is just so much better.

Thanks for all the welcomes.
