Why get a job
Why get a job if the wages are real low? Article here
This is what is going on in Cuba according to this report. With the official pay so low,
it doesn't pay to leave the Casa. I got this feeling last summer being offered a job at
about $1 above minimum wage. I decided not to accept the job after figuring out that
paying the gas to get there and back would take nearly 20% of my wages after taxes.
Any comments?

Re: Why get a job
That is the case in much of Europe and Scandinavia too. The socialistic nanny state provides just enough freebies to kill
the incentive to be productive and uses tax penalties on those who are productive to pay for them. Add in the costs of
maintaining the enormous government bureaucracies, and conforming to the massive amounts of regulation and red tape
and it's no wonder the producers can't pay more for wages.
But the voters keep demanding their freebies and the government
employees know on which side their bread is buttered. How any small business succeeds is beyond me.

Fierce Rabbit is an interesting name. What comes to mind is Jimmy Carter smacking a rabbit with an oar. Jimmy was in a small boat, and the rabbit wanted on.

I remember the political cartoon they ran in the press about that. I think there were three panels, one being Teddy Roosevelt battling a bear or something.

Hi Gang, oddly, I don't remember the cartoon, but rather a grainy B&W photo of the event. Both parties looked deadly serious and frightened. I'll avoid more commentary on the event. (too many easy jokes)
