Finally Big Oil Shot Back

Hi Gang, As most may know, the oil execs are on the government carpet again.
Ya know the politicians just want to look like they are doing something to help the problem of high oil prices. Their solution; Add taxes. ??? Yah, right.

One of these political brain trusts wondered why in a free market, the price is so high?
The Shell Rep. pointed out that it is not a free market. They can't explore or drill most government land. They can't build refineries due to restrictions. If they get taxed more there will be less capital to do the exploring, drilling and refining.

Common sense. Of course the oil Exec.'s salary was brought up. What does that have to do with it? If they worked for nothing, it wouldn't change the price of crude one whit.

Clinton vetoed Alaska drilling. We would have that oil now were it otherwise.
Pander to the environmentalists I guess? The environmentalists are about power, not the environment. (I'm talking the top leaders, not the useful idiots) They are entrenched in our own government, and we can't vote em out. They are unelected bureaucrats.

The Presidential election is a no win for us. (as in USA) I hope you guys elect some good senators and congressmen. Up here, we are stuck with what we have.

I say to hell with them all. Suport the pending national flex fuel bill . Get a CHOICE in what you put in your car! Pull the rug out from under the terrorist states and greedy oil corporations. Also maybe see the price of natural gas go down if this passes. IF we continue on our current course ,we are headed for disaster. K

Sorry K, At 8% profit margin, I can't consider oil companies greedy.
I don't like government mandates either. If there is a demand for flex fuel cars, they will be manufactured. (being manufactured now actually) If you want one, go buy one. I use about 50 bucks worth of gas a month. I don't need a new set of wheels.
I don't think that the government forcing us to change light bulbs, TVs or cars will bring a brighter day.
The government doesn't know didley about designing a vehicle, and they have never produced a drop of fuel. Better they get out of the way, and quit the pontificating and mandating.
Best they stick to what they were created to do. Keep us safe and secure from countries that want to kill us.
What else does the government really do well? Post office? (it has been privatized) Social Security? (bleeding red ink) Medicare? (expensive fraud laden red ink bleeder)

Sorry K, Forgot; To grow corn, you need a lot of nitrogen fertilizer. It is made from natural gas.
If we are forced to quit generating electricity from coal (clean tech method) here, the plants will be converted to...natural gas.
Put a pressure tank in your car and you can burn...natural gas.

i am fed up with things too .i still can't see why we are still burning gas without developing other sources electric cars exist steam cars used to exist .i know these aren't practical but they could be if there was a way to switch over i guess not much chance with a gas station on every corner.i hope someone comes up with a way to run a car on rf or magnetic energy.butch

The republican party has been taken over by the libs. I disagree with Limbaugh on his evaluation of this, the libs don't need to leave the republican party, the party needs to leave the libs. The libs didn't put themselves into office, twas the people who voted them into there.
There is no conservative party in this country anymore, and it won't be fixed in 4 years like limbaugh thinks, it will be more like 20-30 years before the public changes enough to come to the realization that liberal thinking is inefficient, costly, and intrusive.
Other world countries are moving back towards the right, but in the USA we have moved to the left, soon it will be far left.
