December Finds Empty December Finds

Post by Guest on Fri Dec 14, 2012 10:07 am

I had been looking around for a WWV self setting clock but could not justify spending the money for one. I stopped in a local thrift shop, and saw one clock of a type I had saw abd rejected because it used a outdoor temp sensor and I didn't want the hassle of keeping that in order. I almost passed on this, but got it anyway. It's instructions were online, I put in the batteries and started it. It said to leave it sit for 24 hrs. I did, then set it to within a couple of seconds of WWV. It Is setting itself and the display for the outdoor thermometer will reset to a elapsed second display, and it has cleaned up into a nice wall clock for $2.02 plus tax.

They had a Scott 800B console complete and working . It sold for 6$ . I didnt want to make the drive .

Found this WR-50C signal generator at a flea market and took a chance on it. It doesn't seem to be working, although it is very clean all around. It has an Army PMEL sticker on it from 1999. Anyone familiar with these?

250 or so 78's all sleeved and well cared for for $60. Fairly common 40's and 50's with a few 20's labels. $15 for a slightly used 12 amp Hoover carpet cleaner. Needed a different one since the pump went out on the other.
Then I absolutely stole this Wilson brand leather jacket for my wife. $18 w/ shipping and it fits and looks fantastic. Wife says it's a $150-$175 jacket brand new all day long. Inexperienced seller ended the auction at around 4:30 central time. Well heck a large portion of the working folks across the USA are still at work or coming home.

VIZ is not well known, I have seen a couple in Labs. I know nothing about the quality. But if the military has a sticker on it. It must have met Mil-Spec requirement for Lab work. So I would say not a bad pick.

Heres a free Schematic for it.

I think from what I have read it was made by RCA.

I hope it works out. It is more in line with my budget that the service monitors I'm used to working with.

Christmas does provide a lot of preparation, especially when you toss in the meals, cookie baking, etc. Wink
