RCA RHM 49E

Post by Guest on Sun Dec 09, 2012 3:32 pm

I finally got my November find back up again. The batteries had destroyed the positive cont assemblies and just the support for them remained. I ordered come single sided pc board and cut 4 large diameter discs and two smaller discs the size of the openings in the support. I then drilled a hole through the disc centers, got two red crimp eye lugs and used them as the bucking washer for a small pop rivet. I removed the cladding from the two small discs and assembled each set of discs with the cladding on the larger discs facing away from the support. I then set the pop rivet on each assembly and had the eye lug for soldering the power leads to. Cleaned out all the additional deposits and cleaned out all the switches and the earphone jack. The plastic case had browned somewhat so I cleaned it completely and gave it a kiwi treatment. It plays excellent, though the shortwave band is a little more sparse these days.

Here is what I started with...
