scroll all the way to the bottom of the main page. The codes are listed there. New posts have a red circle.

OK, I'm going to bump this back up because I don't see any notifications at the bottom. What indications are there for new posts? Since I'm color blind I might be missing something, but never had a problem on numerous other forums I'm on. When there is a new post, what indicates that?

At the very bottom center of the home page you will see the following text and three circles:

New posts...........No new posts............Forum is locked

The left circle should be red and the right circle should have a pad lock on it. These same circles are a the left of forums on the home page. Forums with red circles should have new posts in them. If you can't see this you may have an issue with your browser.

if you are blue/green color blind it should not be a problem but if you have a problem with red/gray that may be your issue.

Thanks and it is clear the problem is on my end. The icons mentioned all look the same to me...blue. I don't think it is the browser (FireFox) because other things seem to be displayed correctly. I'll have to figure something out.

Again, thanks for the comments.

Well, the wife can see the red on the new posts, so obviously the problem is me. Wonder if the color can be changed in the Admin preferences?

With some software (but not all) it can. This will be a question for Bill and/or Cliff.

I've searched the FF add ons and there are several that will show what a color blind person will see, but not the other way around. I thought I saw something about a color blind screen viewer somewhere. Might have been in Windows 8. I checked Windows 7 and it doesn't appear available.

Frustrating, but it is my problem. Embarassed

It sounds like you suffer from Protanopia. This is caused by the complete absence of red retinal photoreceptors. I had to get involved in all this several years ago when we were designing new telephones with LED indicators. We were using red/green LED's and also alternating the red and green segments to produce amber. When we had persons with this type of color deficiency use the phones they could not see any difference when the LED was red or green. They could only see the amber. I'm posting this in case Bill or Cliff have the option to change the color. They need to know what color will show up for you.

I'll talk to Cliff, but, if you are having problems seeing red, what about black? If we keep the other colors, can you see black? If not, we'll have to go back to original colors.
Let me know as soon as you can.

Is there an option to put something next to the new posts like a star or other symbol? Color would not matter then.

I think black would be fine, Bill. The problem is that at the bottom of the page both icons are blue and those along side the posts are always displayed as blue. The wife can see the ones that are red. The problem is that I have to look at the posts, see which ones are "today," then remember if I have read them. I think you see the problem. Hate to be a pain, but it would make my operation on the forum a lot, lot, easier and better.

What would be nice is the option to fill the circle in a solid dark color where you could see the difference even if you were viewing in monochrome. We have this option on the software at another site and it works well for everyone.

I noticed the change of indicators for new posts. I think it looks great. I wonder how Bill (N7ZAL) likes it.

Right now I only see it on the home page so I'm assuming you are just trying it out.

Cliff, I like it. Can you make that sign show on the new posts inside each of the forums?

OK, I see we have "old" also poping up, I don't like that. Now it's just my opinion but adding the "old" balloon on threads not posted in appears too cluttered to me.
