Hello Boys!

Post by Sal Brisindi on Wed Nov 21, 2012 9:32 pm

I joined this forum a while back but never posted, I think.... Most of you guys know me at ARF. Anyway a little history. I'm 53 years old and have been interested in electronics all my life, well, at least the last 45 or so years. I am a member of the New Jersey Antique Radio Club and on the executive board and treasurer for over 12 years.

I work for Big Blue (IBM) for 35+ years as a field tech, repairing, installing and upgrading mainframes on down to midrange computers, Netapp, Cisco, SANs and Tape Storage. I've seen a lot of technology come and go... I met my wife of 27 years on a service call in 1983 and the rest is history...

I have been really active and busy with tube audio lately, building at least 20 tube amplifiers and restoring and repairing countless Dynaco's, Heathkit, Conrad Johnson, Audio Research Corp and other tube amps this year alone. I have 2 website, tuberadios.com (needs some serious updating and dynaco-st70.com)

My other passion is cruising in my 58 Impala with my wife.

Regards,
Sal

Nice Avatar, nice car. Is that my Christmas present, Sal?
Gee, thanks!
Seriously, hope we see, and, hear you alot here.

Oh, is that car a beauty! I wish it was mine! I love the colors. Our family Impala was ugly gold.
It also kept breaking down.

Thanks, I have a 1970's 350ci and a Turbo 350 transmission in it. I wish I had a 348 with a 6 pack... maybe in my 3rd 58 Impala but I would love my 3rd 58 to be a convertible.....but I don't have $80K plus to buy one, this one cost me enough. I could have purchased a nice new car, but that would be boring... My first one I bought in 1982, did a ton of work on it including taking out the automatic transmission and installing a 4 speed manual, sold it 13 years ago more or less.. I got the bug to install a manual transmission in this one but I will hold back my cravings... :-)

Actually they are the same car. Sometimes the digital camera makes it more blue, the actual color is green, the one with me in it. That's why I bought it, green is my favorite color and I continuously get comments about the color of the car when cruising, which is almost every day weather permitting.

I only have one 58 Impala... and a white 1975 Pontiac Trans-Am I own for more than 34 years...

Hi Sal and glad you migrated over again. Excellent photos and lots of nostalgia with the car. As I remember one tail light=Belaire, 2=Biscayne, and of course 3 was the Impala. All were great cars ! I'd like to have one and that is on my "wish list" after the lottery win. Very Happy Very Happy

What am I missing here? I love your car, but we had a 1962 Gold Impala, and, it was nothing, but, trouble.
Was in the repair shop more than the driveway.
When if finally gave up the ghost inumm, I think 1966, they couldn't get it started. Every time they tried, it would make a loud explosion, and, fire would shoot out of both the air filter, and, the tail pipe.
The repairman gave up saying it would have to have a new engine at a cost of 1,000.00. We tried to sell it as a trade in, that failed. We tried a private sale. That failed. In the end, my mother had to PAY a junk yard fifty bucks to drag it away.

I've always been a Ford guy and always will but........ when you are into old cars, they are all beautiful when someone puts a lot of time and love into them. I don't care what you like or dislike you have to love that '58 Chevy.

Sal, I'm a vendor at Spring Carlisle, do you go to that meet?

I have the factory Delco radio for the car but there is a classic looking modern radio in the dashboard. I don't even use it, I have a power amp in the trunk so I feed my MP3 player to it as the RCA cables run under the dashboard and listen to my 1950's music when I am driving it..

Today the temperature was in the low 50's so I washed and waxed the car..
