Does anyone have any information on this radio;

It's a Rincan made in Japan.

It looks pretty clean. I did a search with Bing using "rincan" and found a few things, including some pics of this unit and a model number and also that they were also marketed under the brand name Lloyds.

Thanks for the link, I saw those also. The only one with the same exact cabinet it the one I linked to, but it is AM/FM and mine is AM/SW. None of the AM/SW 's look like the one I have. There is no model number anywhere. I'll just have to do the best I can with it.

I believe Rincan was more of an "individual components" manufacturer. I seem to recall working on non Rincan Japanese made electronics that had Rincan labeled electrolytic capacitors and maybe even a Rincan variable capacitor inside.

A cool radio nonetheless....do the AM and SW "dots" light up when you switch between the bands?

I going to say yes because that's the way I remember it, but it's been years since I power this radio. I will check it out and post if it is different.

Well, it took me a minute but I got it! lol!

Thanks for the humor, we need more of that in life!

Oh, I see.... you're one of "those" people, eh?

1) wear underwear for a full week....
2) turn underwear inside out, and wear for another week....
3) boil a pot of water, dip underwear in it - serve "high tea".

HAHAHAHA!

I have to still work on the R1, I've been getting a new shop set up and that is taking all my time.

I have been listing all the radio's I have around here by model and name. My reason for this is to help get this board showing up in more searches.

I remember back in the Mid 70s when I was in school my neighbor buddy sold me a chassis of one similar to that. I think I gave maybe 25 cents for it. I had the best time taking all the parts off and finding out what they were. I think the only thing I used the speakers. He would find all kinds of junk like that and I was addicted to electronics from tearing those things apart. Don't worry though they were all busted up and not fixable.

Hey. If you want to trade, or sell that radio, pm me. I'll take it. I like the idea of lighted dotts, and, it's the first Japanese built radio I've seen with SW. Does it also have FM??

I have a Commodore AM-FM radio from Japan.  Very similiar to the one you have.  It has seven tubes and has the little wire holders to hold the tubes down.  Mine has a 19A3 rectifier.  The same gold anodizing on the chassis.  Mine appears well-built as does yours.  I have to have the dial string tight as a fiddle string to keep it from slipping.  Mine is called "Stereo-Sonic", and although it has four speakers, it is not stereo.  It is a pretty good performer for what it is.  Yours is a cute radio, though. My wife would probably glom onto it for "her" collection!
