A New Vacuum Head

Post by edwardtheless on Wed Oct 17, 2012 8:39 pm

Hi all! I am getting back into electronics and have decided vacuum tubes are the future...hobby that is.

I was an electronics tech in the US Navy (1995-2001) where I worked on radar systems. After my father became ill I decided to stay with him and not to reenlist. I did not do much in electronics until a year ago when I got my ham radio license. I got an old Kenwood TS-830s and did a few repairs on it.

Wanting to do more repair and restoration work I am now getting into vacuum tube radios. So far I have only fixed a Motorola 5R1 and am now starting work on a Zenith Universal 6G001Y. I got this one to get my skill up for it's big brother the Zenith Transoceanic. After I get more equipment and save some money I will get a B600 as the centerpiece of my collection.

Thanks All!
