I met up in Wichita with my longtime best buddy, Mike, of 40 years out of Lawrence and went to the airshow at Mcconnell AFB. Fun time and free. Wahoo!! Mike is the avaiation nut and a walking encyclopedia of warbird knowledge. I just appreciate all of it. One of his friends Colonel John Hernandez picked us up and gave us the VIP treatment. I have never seen one man get saluted so many times in all my life. Here's John's bio: http://www.184iw.ang.af.mil/resources/biographies/bio_print.asp?bioID=16118&page=1
VIP got us parking right at the flight line. Special fenced off area with free catered food etc. Yeah the Air Force paid for it so in a way I guess I did pay for it.

Some really fantastic stunt flying. I saw things done with a bi-plane I never knew one could do. The Thunderbirds did not dissappoint. B1 bomber was loud with 4 afterburners going and then hitting .98 mach. As John informed if they break the sound barrier then residents get mad due to broken windows. F-18 was phenomenal.

Great pics, looks like a fun time. What a rush it must be flying in those T-birds! That mirror stunt is amazing!

Thanks for the comments guys.

This fellow here, Jason Newburg, was phenomenal with his bi-plane. He does have a stunt pilot training school in Texas if anyone is interested. I think I'll pass.

Check the stunt at the 5:10 mark. That's a stall w/spin thrown in. Crazy!!
Then at around 5:53 the HARD WHEEL down move!! WOW!!

I wonder if the guy can get life insurance?

On 6 Oct. I "toured" a B-17 ("Aluminum Overcast") at Dothan, Al. airport. Flown in by EAA. While waiting in line an old man(about 85-90 yrs) wearing a WWII hat/cap got in line, accomp. by an escort holding onto his arm. The escort (Grandson??) asked for our attention--said the elder man was Cpt./pilot in WWII and flew missions in B-17 over Germany. The people in line gave the old gentleman a standing ovation.
The Alum. Overcast tours the US and may come to an airport near you.

Thanks for the airshow pix and link.
