picked up a very nice Zenith 6-B-129 (conversion to AC) for a song. 50 bucks. Plays great and the cabinet is pretty nice all and all.
Someone added a socket, tube and transformer sometime in the past. Its a 7 tuber now but it plays great. I am still going to rebuild / recap it but this one is a keeper. I like the design and the cabinet is in very nice condition.

I checked and it is truely a 6-B-129. Its even stamped correctly on the cabinet and the chassis.

September finds. 1-8
September finds. 5-4

I think I made a great deal. One of the few in the past few months.... Laughing

OK Bill, I am a little confused. If I find a radio its to go in the monthly finds (ie, September finds) in the Antique Radio section but if I find something like a slot machine, do I start a new September finds under the clubhouse? because its a new find and its not a radio. I am confused because the August finds had all sorts of stuff, radios and non-radios in it.
I understand that this forum is NOT the ARF but I guess I am just used to those rules. The (monthly) finds always go in the "clubhouse"
I am still learning so bear with me.

Sorry. My mistake. I thought this was radios you were repairing, so, I moved it to radios. If it's September finds, indeed, it should be in the clubhouse. I'll move it back. My bad. Sorry... Thanks for the correction...
ON the slot machine, no, you don't need to start a new thread, though this isn't a repair forum for one. But, saying you found it with pictures, no problem....

I haven't even had time to look. I am just about exhausted from 3 years of planning to move the mother in law. They are widening the road where we live and we are down to the nitty gritty. I have cut some trees . So I am looking at buying a chainsaw mill,it would be cheaper and I would have it to use again. We hired one of my wifes relatives to do some painting. A 3 day job to do the porch and kitchen took 3 days for the kitchen alone. So we are working to finish the porch ourselves. Then our daughters car tore up. So we had it towed in. They fixed it but it overheated on me going home. So second tow and now the water pump is out. Thats not all as of last night I do not know if the car got flooded. The shop where it is at got flooded so I do not know how much as of yet, I did think I saw it up on the rack as I passed the shop this morning,if so it may be ok, if not its car shopping. I will be glad when winter gets in maybe I can look for radios and work on them.

Found this Philco 53-960, great condition. I hope fifty dollars wasn't too much to give.

Just got this, it's a little large for the platen on the scanner, but it got nearly all of it. Everyone can use a little protection.

Channel Master 6 for 50 cents at a yard sale on my way to an auction Saturday AM. Comes with leather case and earphone. Dang...where's a 9 volt when I need one?

$1 at the auction got me close to 100 well cared for classical lps with a few big band lps mixed in with the best being this 5 lp set of Glenn Miller.

At the auction I did go up to $10 on this RCA. Seller got it for $11. Thinking I could flip it fast since I try and stay away from solid states except for small transistors. Farm fresh estate find? Naw...small town of 4,000 people and the auction was at a house in the middle of town. Dang Ebay sellers. Mad

Wow Chris ... Nice little Channel Master.

A couple of years ago I found the same set w/leather case and ear plug for a couple of bucks at a local flea market here. Cool and the last time I had it out, it still played nicely.

picked up this little Arvin model 40 "Mighty Mite" a few days ago
The original finish is very nice. The entire radio is original and has, after really close review..never been touched. It has the original everything. It even played when I did a quick check of the working status.
Its a two tube model (70L7 GT and a 25B8 GT) and even has original Arvin tubes in it. It looks untouched

I will be doing a clean up, detail and full electronic restoration on it but I am not going to do anything cosmetically, its that nice.

Is that Arvin 40 a metal case? It looks like it is. I have a temple radio almost like it. For some reason I think I remember one of the companies made these and then relabeled them for other companies. If so they may be the same internally. I need to get mine out and redo it.

yep, Willy...its metal.

I have a kind of soft spot in my heart for little metal midget radios. I have a ton of them (well, maybe not a ton..but a lot)

I have a couple of Temples. One is original and one I repainted a brilliant green. The original paint one is a red color. I also have an assortment of Silvertones, Arvins, Temples, Kents and some others as well. I love the little metal Midget radios.

this little metal model 40 is a relatively rare bird. Although I have seen some for sale, they usually garner some big bucks. I think they were considered a "throw away" radio in the day. I have 3 of them but none of the others are a nice as this one.

Good score on the Arvin. I've got a very small bakelite I bought off Ebay as an ugly duckling I need to restore if I ever find the time.

I think every Chinese restaurant in my area had one of those pay phones. Never knew how profitable they were, though. Nice radios, also!

Nice radios Ken. Especially the coin op. I wonder how many thousands of those are in nationwide landfills when they all got taken out of hundreds of thousands of hotel rooms?

I've got a Dahlberg pillow radio but in really bad shape.

I wondered the same thing . This one is made incredibly cheap for something used in public , its all aluminum , case , chassis , even the tuner pully . The radios circuits are way above average though . 6 tubes and a 3 gang tuner .
