Delco R-1116 Repair

Post by mikeSR on Sat Aug 18, 2012 3:51 am

Embarking on the repair of a Delco R-1116. I'm looking for a service manual for it. Funny thing, nostalgia air has the schematic, which has numbers for all the parts, but doesn't have the key to all those identification numbers. Service manuals are hard to get on most vintage radios, but I thought I'd give it a try. Thanks !!
* I'll probably have more questions concerning this model as I go on. I know the basics, but then I need a guru.

Welcome to Tube Radio Forums.
Individual repair mannuals are hard to come by. I'd reccommend getting the one schematic availlable, and, carefully replacing the capacitors one by one using the same capacity values, and, at least the same voltages as what's in there now. Hopefully, you shouldn't run into any major snags. Just do it slowly, methodically.
Same with electrolytics. Stay close to original values , higher voltages is o.k., but, not lower.
New caps are somewhat different.
If an old capacitance is 30 mf a new 33 mf is fine. Just don't use lower values.
