For the last couple of days I have been cleaning up, and, throwing out trash, separating hardware from electronics parts, boxed tubes from unboxed tubes, and, putting ballast resistors in a place where they can be found again.
Bench is a disaster!
Floor is also, but, improving.
I'm going through boxes, finding stuff that was buried, and, even found one of my TV chassis' I want to get back on.
My 1949 RCA 9T270 16" blonde mahogany table model set.
That set needs a lot of work.....
Picture tube is good. 16AP4.
I had to refinish case because someone had painted it pink.
There was enough original finish left to find out color. Took a lot of stain matching to come up with correct color. Still have to get decals for it, and, lacquer it.
These sets are fairly scarce.
I'll post on it when I get back on it.
Anyway, I have much cleaning to do, yet. Then I furnish working on a few items.
Then, who knows what's next??
I'll have pictures soon if anyone is interested.

I may get back on 16" console porthole Raytheon this coming winter yet.

Just think of it as a positive thing. Sometime we we are forced to cleanup, it open other opportunities. I've been talking about reorganizing my workbench and hanging some shelves for month. Last week a plumbing leak in the wall behind my workbench force that project to the forefront. Didn't much enjoy the opportunity but I repaired the leak, hung plywood on the wall, hung shelves and organized the work area. Point being....jump on that old TV ....., you never know, Ed Sullivan may still be hiding in there. Ha!

Shop and bench clutter is a constant battle for me. I tend to be a "piler". My brother is an excellent organizer. He does not know beans from sauer kraut about electronic parts. He comes down about every six months and cleans up for me. I have eight radios torn down on the bench at this time. Waiting for parts on some, various stages of repair on others. I have a coffee can full of used capacitors that, I'm sure, the guitar amp and audiophool crowd would love to have. It seems like the clutter just grows.

Got bench clean enough to look at an old piece of RS test equipment I thought wasn't working right.
Did soem resistance, and, ac tests with it today, and, it seems fine. It's an old deluxe Analog fet multi metr. It's roughly 15 years old.
Found my buried early RCA 16" tv chassis, also.
Been throwing out more trash.

You can never rely on those radio faries to fly in and clean up and organize the shop. The radio robbers won't even touch mine. At least we know where the stuff is supposed to go when the cleaning is done. Smile

Sign of a clever mind is a dirty work shop.

You guys are lucky and don't know it. My bench is 26"x36" with my parts bins on one side and my variable and isolation transformers on the other. If I have something larger than an AA5 it sits on the dining room table. It's my back room that I have to deal with. There are three chassis' somewhere waiting for parts, a TV that needs to go to the dump and a cabinet in the process of refinishing, (waiting for good weather outside).

P.S when you finish your bench come tackle my bathroom. Now THERE'S a challenge What a Face !
