Bendix 10" tv

Post by Bill Cahill on Wed Aug 01, 2012 2:47 am

16 Years ago I rebuilt this small console tv. It played, but, I wan't happy with it at all.
I traded it to John Folsom, who had it for five years, and, did nothing with it.
He got tired of it, and, gave it back to me...
All these years I did nothing, except to move the set to my shop.

Well, yesterday I pulled the knobs off, and, took the chassis out, and, put it on the bench.
Did a thorough cleanning of chassis.
Did a couple of small repairs on it today.
Well, tonight, I very, very slowly brought it up on the variac after connecting it to cable, and, a temporary spkr.
I got sound. Played with Ion trap, and, Voolah!
I got a raster!!!!!
I fiddled with some of the adjustments. I have a picture, but, it definately has issues.
But, the point is it is again playing!!
AS soon as possible, I'll take pictures of it.
I'm thrilled that the picture tube is very good. Actually shows a fairly bright picture.
I have issues with horizontal oscilator right now, it's got a triple picture.
I'll have to check into that.
But, the good news is it's playing!
I am so excited!!!!

No problem. I'm not a believer in taking what doesn't belong to you either.
Smile Though that doesn't include trash thrown out.
I used to love to go garbage picking looking for old radios, and, tv's.
Those were some of my most fun filled moments. Pcking up old tv's out of the trash. If they had antique tv's in the trash now, you'd see me out riding around yet, looking around.. Smile

Too late to finnish tonight. I"ll finnish them tommorrow, or, Monday.
Shows the set at how it's playing now, plus, what has been finnished so far.
Replaced one low voltage electrolytic I missed the first time that is on audio detector.
That improved sound alot.
Apparently, it was open.
Have pictures soon. Stay tuned.

Found out this set is too pooped to pop. If I add that circuit, too much will suffer in picture quality.
