EICO Model 320 Signal Generator

Post by Steve Myers on Tue Jun 12, 2012 3:38 pm

Hello all, I got a rusted EICO Sinal Generator Model 320 and re-caped it. Does anyone have the Construction Docs? I have found the Instruction Docs but I have a problem that it will not work. I have gone over it with my mentor and he has found that there are two lugs inside that have no wiring on them, and never has had. The two (old style) screw on fittings for the test probes have the "hot" lead but no ground. The two plugs are mounted with a fiber washer (to keep them off of the metal box that is the test equipment) but the Schmatic shows them grounded. There is also a solder lug mounted with the screw on conecters. If these two points were to be grounded, why the additonal expence of mounting them with the isolation fiber washer and grounding lug? Just mount them on the metal box and be done with it! I am trying to learn and get some old test equipment to work on radios. I am hitting a wall here and that is why the cry for help.

Thanks
Steve

Bill, Thanks for the info, but that info on the 320 is the Instruction Manual. I need/looking for the Construction manual as I have the 320-K (K for kit) that was put together by a person who (I think) tried to use it. The info that you sent me to, I already have. Thanks again.

Try this. It's the schematic. Nice, and, large. Shows that jack grounded. I suspect it's been wired incorrectly.

Bill, Thanks, I have that already. I will wire the two Jacks/plugs but why did they isolate the two jacks from ground (insolated washers) and then put wire lugs to ground them?

Thanks
Steve
