Hello from central Michigan!
And a Happy Thanksgiving to all! I've been lurking in this group for a while and decided to try to join in now and then with comments and questions. I've been active in antique radio collecting and restoring since 1981, although I've been an avid radio fan since I was a kid. I remember clearly my first crystal set, which I built in 1945. I acquired my first radio, an RCA 7K, in 1950, when it was hardly an antique, at the Salvation Army retail store on W. Lafayette Ave. in Detroit, about a half mile west of downtown. Through the years it somehow was lost, but I yearned for it. Finally, at a Michigan Antique Radio Club event in Lansing, I found one, restored it, and still use it.
My interest in the radio hobby recently changed a bit to home AM transmitters, constructed by altering AA5 receivers. I have some questions about the amazing results I obtained and I'll post those in the Home Brew section.
Looking forward to being as active as I can in this group. --Tom S.
