What was your method for cleaning the chassis and what paint did you use? The chassis looks awesome. How did you clean the variable trimmer/tuning assembly? Could you post some pics either here or in Photo Bucket?

I scraped the entire chassis with a flat tip screwdriver to loosen up the crud, then scrubbed it with Zepsolve. I wiped off the residue with a damp cloth & sanded the rust spots. I masked off the coils, tube sockets and the tuning condensor & painted everything with Testors chrome enamel, which I discovered scratches very easily. Won't be using it again.

How did you clean the tuning condensor? Looked like it had a bunch of dirt and crap in it in a previous pic.

The fins weren't too bad, so I used an air compressor set at low pressure to blow out the dust. The rest of it I just scraped, scrubbed and painted.

Thanks. I have been thinking of taking the entire tuning condensor assembly completely off of the chassis of my 6T and soaking it in a vinegar/water solution and polishing the gears in it and then lubricating the gears and bearing and reassembling and installing it back onto the chassis. A lot of work, but I want my Motorola 6T to look its best. Heck, I have already spent several hours just on the transformer. Smile
