what new records have you all got lately?

Post by neali on Tue Aug 09, 2011 12:05 am

I got a small hole 45 of Julie London signing "Fly me to the Moon..."

Well, I am not allowed to post an image or link for 7 days, probably a wise precaution, but if you type h t t p : / / w w w dot and then the following, you can see what this record is particularly cool.

That is what it said. News members are not allowed to post images or links for seven days. I will try to again and send you a screen shot. Well it worked this time, the time before I used the "host an image button".

It is not complaining now, but I swear!!

I have had it for a while but I do have a interesting record. I lived in Nashville TN, country music capital back in the 80s going to school on electronics. I use to hit yard sales and buy junk to fix. I was out one day in a place where it looked kind of run down . I looked in a box that was labeled 25 cents each and found a actual gold record. It was one given out as a actual award. The song was Judy in disguise with glasses. It was a 45 metal record that was gold plated on a frame. I still have it and cleaned it up. And before anyone asked if you try to play it the sound is just scratchy. I tried it out of curiosity when I cleaned it up.

Willy,

That is way cool. That was a number one record in 1968.

I have been looking in yard sales for 78's, I usually find a couple of binders full in a summer, but this year I haven't found any.

I've seen tons of 78s at thrift stores (Goodwill and Salvation Army stores.)

I picked up a factory sealed Sinatra 33rpm for 50 cents at Goodwill.

I have found many at thrift stores. I am looking for fox trots, classical, opera before 1950, the latest I will buy are the small red victor labels that were mostly sold in sets, or the small black labels. There are so many of the 50's stuff and it sounds horrible, especially on crank phonographs.
