I've now replaced entire hv section, including both halves of cage, all chassis screws, Yoke bonntet, all screws for same, cleanned replacement bonnet, I've discovered that focus coil wires are rotted, and, have re-installed tubes in hv section.
I have much to go yet.
rear controls, Power resistors, tuner detent, tubes, capacitors, electrolytics, power cord, ion trap, etc.....
Long ways to go before first power up, but, I have it alot better than it was....

Think I've finally found original old replacements for vert. Height, and, Linearity controls. Not focus pot, though.
Cleanned terminals on those, and, replacement resistor strip.
Tommorrow, or, Wed., Il'' start replacing more dammaged parts.

Further notes... Earlier I thought controls I had chosen were bad. I picked wrong ones. The correct ones turned fine. I removed them from a parts 641.
I have cleanned terminals on them, and, replacement resistor strip. I'll check them on meter, and, if good, install. Then, I replace broken tuner detent, and, next on to normal rebuilding.
I may have some tube socket issues yet.
This set was a real mess.
I know this isn't the approved way, but, the only way I know how. I will be patching, feathering in pieces of veneer.
Case, and, stand will need total refinnishing.
Case, and, stand are walnut veneer, stained in walnut.
I really am starting to like this set....

I have so far replaced the vert. Height, Lin. controls, back resitors for lv power supply, and, done alot of cleaning. I also put insulators on focus coil wires. Replaced many rusty chassis screws, and, yoke bonnet.
Today, I've started stripping ratty finnish off cabinet, then a piece of veneer broke off. I'll have to glue that back on.
I have selected some used good walnut veneer I hope I can match to it, and, table.
I have a game plan on patching of both.
Where veneer is jagged, I will chisel off the jagged straight, then, patch in replacement veneer pieces.
There's some nice grain on top.I have a good exact replacement spkr. for it from another RCA I junked. I'll put that one in.
I replaced missing tubes in chassis. May have to replace two tube sockets. One the video out. Other horiz. osc.
H V section, and, back resistors came from other junked chassis, which was similar.
Can't take pictures now. Batteries in camera dead.

Somebody asked me where I am on this set now. I think I will now state where I am.

I haven't touched the set in several months. Hope to again sometime this spring...
Cabinet... Most of main case is stripped of finnish, and, did one repair on veneer. More to go..

Chassis.
Parts replaced...
Entire hv section consisting of hv cage, door, flyback, lin. coil, hv rect. socket, and, damper socket.

Back resistor, and, it's mounting pieces.
Vert. Lin contorl.
Vert. Height control.

Chores started:
Re painted power transformer.
Did some rust removal.
Repaired wires on focus control.
Replaced some missing screws.

I will likely have to replace the 5U4 socket, the 12AU7 socket, maybe yoke.
Replaced severely rusted "Hood" over yoke
Still have to replace a few more dammaged parts, and, do more cleanning, plus, test tubes.
Then, I can start things like testing ac on power trasformer, and, re capping set.
I have to replace broken tuner detent, and, missing fine tunning belt.
I use O rings for that.
I'll be testing other resistors as I go along.
After all repairs are done, I'll slowly start bringing it up on variac.
This won't be for some time, now....
I have hopes that it will play again.
Oh, yeh. Also replaced dammaged spkr. with an exact replacement good spkr.
Slowly coming along....
Bottom of chassis isn't looking half bad.
By the way, picture tube is good.

Sounds like plenty of work ahead, but I am sure it will be worth it. Can't wait to see finished product.
