I never even thought about it mabey you can help the motors good and strong and the gear makes contact but it keeps slipping.

Sounds like the rubber tire on idler wheel is bad.
Gary at VM enthusiasts can help with that.

You can resurface the rubber wheel by putting a screw through the center hole with a nut on the other end and chucking it up in a drill press. Fold a piece of 320 grit sandpaper over a piece of shim stock and press evenly over the wheel until you have a consistent clean surface. Keep finger oils off of it. Watch out for the circlips when you remove them as they travel long distances if they get away.

Okay now it works on 33 and 78 but not 45?

Good looking set. Got my first free set old philco .. but needs a lot of work. Be one Winter project.
