VM model 200 78 rpm record player

Post by Bill Cahill on Tue Apr 19, 2011 1:08 am

As far as I know, this was the first rp that VM made in 1946-'47.
This, of course, is a 78 rpm automatic player with simple slicer knives.
It uses a 3 tube amp consisting of the following tubes:
12SJ7 First amp
50L6 Audio output
45Z5 Rectifier.. You heard me right.... 45Z5.

It has a 5" speaker mounted to the front of the case..
It's a walnut finnished open top simple wood case. The tone arm has two plastic shells. One in front, one in back. There are two nickel plated hollow tubes in the middle. The plastic parts are red in color with heavy marbeling.
All control knobs are the same.
The volume control is on top of changer deck.
The motor on-off switch also turns off the amp...
Anybody know how to fix these? I'ver repaired some issues, but, the knives jump, and, make the turntable, and, tone arm jump during cycle....
It makes a loud clunk when this happens.
I also need a new 78 rpm saphire needle for my new cartridge I have in it. Set screw type.
Pics if anyone is interested.
